Step #2 for 2010

I would love to think that after reading Step #1, you have begun the process of adding sufficient supplementation into your daily routine. I cannot over-emphasize the importance of this! If you do NOTHING ELSE for your health this year (although I hope you do a LOT more), my hope is you would at least add this into your lifestyle.

Imagine this: For just one day, you have a sufficient intake of…

  1. Omega 3 Fatty Acids
  2. Probiotics
  3. Organic Nutrients

Would you be healthier that day?

Without a doubt! Providing your genes with their necessary requirements to maintain homeostasis is the first vital step towards health, and simple little Step #1 helps you do this with effortless ease.

Now, imagine just doing Step #1 every day for a week. Would you be healthier? Duh! A month? No-brainer! Now imagine yourself doing just Step #1 for the entire year of 2010. Would you be healthier? No logical doctor or scientist would ever say no to that question.

Time for the caveat. Am I saying that you can eat whatever you want, not exercise and have a terrible outlook on life… but still manage to be healthy if you simply take a few good supplements? Don’t be silly.

I don’t want you to have the misunderstanding that Step #1 alone will create health. It won’t. It only brings you closer to health. But, obviously, being closer to health is better than farther from health. The best dietary supplements in the world cannot, and will never, overcome a lifestyle that is chronically toxic. That’s when Step #2 joins the fray. Ready?

#2. Always eat raw fruit or vegetables before every snack or meal

mmmm.... health!

This is your easiest, simplest, most logical next-step towards health. It provides wonderful fiber, digestive enzymes, vitamins & minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals.

And no whining! I’m not asking you to give up ANYTHING! Your meals are, and always will be, your choice. Even if you are accustomed to eating a Chocolate Moon Pie for breakfast every day, I’m not going to ask you to stop if that’s your choice. All I am asking you to do is to pick any fruit you like (be it a banana, an apple, some berries, whatever), and eat that first. Drink a glass of water and then commence with eating whatever you want for breakfast. I won’t judge you.

Now, do the same thing for your morning snack. Eat a handful of almonds or even some grapes before you wolf down that candy bar. Continue the trend at lunch. Eat a salad before your burger & fries or those raw carrots and celery before you devour your wings. Do you see the pattern? I haven’t asked you to give up the first thing, but think of all the good things that you’re adding!

Imagine if you do this for an entire day… do you think you will move closer to health or further from health that day? How about if you do Step #2 for a week? For a month?  A year??

The best part about Step #2? It also fills you up more quickly and, over time, will change your cravings. Which is the end-goal you are ultimately aiming for (otherwise you wouldn’t still be reading this… wink, wink!).

One point to remember: Fruit has a higher sugar content than veggies, so try to eat your fruit earlier in the day and more vegetables as the day gets later.

Finally, what happens if you miss a meal with Step #2? Well then you are obviously a horrible person with no discipline who doesn’t deserve friends, right? Of course not! It’s honestly not a big deal if you miss a meal or mess up along the way. Don’t beat yourself up and by all means DON’T QUIT on this entire year just because one meal in January didn’t go according to plan! Are we good on this?

People get into trouble when they try to accomplish too much too fast. Pace yourself. This should be easy. After all, we were made to be healthy. Do you agree?
